| Graduate Medical Education |
The Methodist Hospital System has a long tradition of training physicians in various medical and surgical specialties. In April 2005, The Methodist Hospital received accreditation for the first sponsored program in Pathology. The development of the graduate medical education programs have been of great success now with 20 ACGME accredited programs and 3 GMEC-sponsored (non-ACGME) programs. Additional specialty programs are expected to be developed in the near future as well. |
| Methodist Institute for Technology, Innovation, and Education (MITIESM) |
The Methodist Institute for Technology, Innovation and Education (MITIE) is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art education and research center at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Its educational mission focuses on physicians who wish to acquire new procedural skills and integrate new technologies into their practices. Its research mission is to enhance the use of image guided technology to guide procedures, incorporate robotic surgery into the image guided platform, and develop new technology and procedural techniques. |

The Methodist Hospital Leadership Development Program offers unparalleled opportunities for future health care leaders to gain experience in all aspects of a premier academic medical center and hospital. The program emphasizes learning through exposure to a full continuum of health care institutions and corporate services. Individuals develop a comprehensive understanding of a complex health care organization with a strong academic and spiritual mission, and have many opportunities to further develop their leadership and communication skills. |

Nursing Leadership at The Methodist Hospital provides a variety of avenues for professional development for nurses. We are able to provide continuing education for the professional development of our staff as well as provide cohorts with local schools of nursing for formal degree advancement. The support extends beyond the growth of our RN's into the development of student nurses through our Student Professional Nurse programs. A 8-week nursing internship program and a summer internship program are also sponsored at Methodist. |

The Postgraduate Cardiovascular Residency for Physician Assistants Program is a 12-month residency, offered by The Methodist Hospital in conjunction with Weill Cornell Medical College. It will provide qualified candidates the opportunity to learn and improve on their basic surgical sciences, clinical and operative skills, and in the process take advantage of the job opportunities available nationwide. |
